We were made to Thrive!

for High School Students

THRIVE is a safe place for high school students to grow together in their faith.

We are now on Summer break. Check back here for our fall kickoff dates and activities which will start in September.

We usually meet on Sunday evenings from 5 – 7 pm in the Student Room, but the second Sunday of the month, we meet from 12 – 2 pm.

We start our meetings with a meal prepared by Deb Meinema. We ask that students pay $3 for the meal. If anyone forgets their money or can’t pay, it is not a problem, just grab a plate of food and catch up when and if you can.

We will then move on to a time of worship. Worship can be singing praise songs, watching an inspirational video, a skit, a reading, etc.

We then move on to our discussion time where we will “tackle” topics suggested by students.  Students write down topics they would like to discuss, and this can be any topic related to their life at home, school, church, Bible reading, something from social media sites, what the world says, etc. and place them in a tackle box. The topic to be discussed in a couple of weeks will then be drawn by a student from the tackle box. Topics will be discussed in a loving, Biblical manner – respecting other’s views and opinions.

On the last Sunday of the month, we will eat and then leave the building to serve others. This year, we are partnering with Park Place for the first half of the year and the Rickman House for the second half of the year. We will play games, do “Reverse Trick or Treating”, provide meals – basically just getting to know the residents and make a connection with them.

All High School students are encouraged to come to the preservice Education Hour. It’s a great way to get hearts and minds ready to corporately worship God.

Education hour is from 9 – 10 am on Sunday.

Everyone meets in the Student Room at 9 am for some snacks (donuts, cinnamon bread, donut holes, fruit, etc.) where we can just hang out and catch up on each other’s lives.

Around 9:10, we split into Middle and High School groups. One group will stay in the Student Room and the other will meet in another classroom in the church basement.

We are excited for the discussions and how God will be leading these discussions!
